Update for William Goforth

ANSWERS TO PRAYER!
William is 4 weeks old today! Mother's milk must agree with him, because he is now a whopping 1 lb. 14 oz. That is a 10 oz. gain for those of you counting, and we sure are. It was only a few days ago that there seemed to be an apparent obstruction in his intestines which delayed the introduction of his mother's milk indefinitely. But once again, the Lord answered prayer before we realized it! Because of your partnership in prayer we know that. . "this is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes" (Psalm 118:23).

UP TO THE MOMENT ...
The Lord graciously answered prayer during the night when the family petitioned our heavenly Great Physician. Last night Josh and Noelle were told that baby William was going to be given several medications to keep him sedated for several days because the level of his blood gases was too low.

When we arrived back in town last night, they asked us to be praying that the Lord would somehow have the level rise on its own without the need of sedating him. This morning an x-ray revealed that the problem was caused by an improper positioning of one of his tubes. Once it was adjusted, within 30 minutes the level of his blood gases recovered to a normal level and they could then discontinue the use of the sedatives.

Since then, they have been able to turn his oxygen level down bit by bit, which is favorable, and he is presently on 50% concentration.

PRAYER REQUESTS:
Today we ask you to please join us in prayer for:
a. the cranial fluid to steadily decrease in amount to eliminate the need for a permanent shunt. (As of last Thursday a "reservoir" was surgically attached as a temporary device to drain the excess cranial fluid.)
b. the central nervous system to continue to mature and be total healed of any seizure-like activity
c. his lungs to continue healing and maturing
d. increased wisdom for the nurses and doctors who care for him day and night

We continue to be amazed at how quickly the Lord has answered many of these prayer requests and in ways we were not expecting. It is precious to know that even the little ones are praying for William.

WORD FOR THE DAY:
"Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou ordained strength because of Thine enemies, that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger" (Psalm 8:2). "For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways" (Psalm 91:11).
